We're Going to Vagus!
Not the city, but the nerve. The Vagus nerve is the nervous system's highway. Running the length of the spine, it is connected to all the organs in the body. It holds our body's responses to trauma, and plays a major role in how we deal with stress, anxiety, PTSD, and influences how we respond to perceived threats to our safety or well being.
In today's meditation, we use deep breathing and intentional relaxation to soothe the Vagus nerve. The effect is usually a sense of deep calm.

Reiki for Pandemic Anxiety
I usually write a script for this intro, and I'm just going to keep it short this time. We are all going through a lot around the world, we are dealing with our personal lives, and our career or job experiences, and also a lot of fear and unknown about the economy, the political situation around the world.
So today's meditation is a distance Reiki treatment.

More Deep Breathing
Breathing work is key to relaxing the body and mind, restoring the body mind and spirit from injury or trauma, and re-learning our innate ability to move smoothly and gracefully through the challenges of life.
In today's meditation we practice deep restorative breathing, applied to the body, mind, and spirit.

Restorative Breathing (part 2)
Stress tends to build up over time. When we don't process or release our anxiety, our pain, our trauma, it can affect our health - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
In today's meditation, we use the breath to restore ourselves.

Destressing the Body
For many of us, daily life has changed dramatically. We are experiencing uncertainty, conflict, anxiety, stress, and a complete disruption of our social routines. This impacts our bodies in the form of stress, tension, and conflict within ourselves.
In today's meditation, we destress the body, creating waves of cleansing energy to release the inner conflict that may be impeding our full experience of life.

Stay Inside
We are experiencing unprecedented times. How can we use this time to expand our awareness, evolve our compassion and kindness, and discern through our confusion? The world within us is truly a healer, a teacher, an infinite realm that belongs only to us.
In today's meditation, we practice the mindful art of going within, and "staying inside".

Brave New World
My friend Daniel Pohnke died in May. He made a strong impact on my life, during a difficult time. Daniel also helped us get the podcast back on its feet, at a time when we had almost given up on it. Daniel was a world traveler, meditator, songwriter, musician, educator, facilitator, light worker, and coach. His enthusiasm for life was infectious. We release this episode of The Meditation Podcast in honor of Daniel, and in support of his wife and son.
Daniel led me through this meditation five years ago, on an hours-long hike around Griffith Park in Los Angeles. If you would like to learn more about Daniel, and support his family, please feel free to check out these links:
