Introduction:
Have you ever felt like you’re hitting a wall, despite all your hard work and meticulous planning? As if an unseen, powerful force is holding you back from your goals. The truth is, every person’s life is like an iceberg, with only a small part visible. The hidden and much larger portion is your subconscious mind, the one truly steering your life. This book is a journey into your depths, so you can understand this powerful force, take the reins, and guide your life toward the path you’ve always dreamed of.
Chapter One: Get to Know Your “Hidden Self”
Why, despite all our efforts, do we not reach where we want to be? Why, even though we spend hours planning and pouring our energy into success, does a strange event change our course at the last minute and ruin everything? These questions are the shared and deep struggles of many people around the world. The feeling that an invisible force, an inner resistance, constantly keeps us from our goals is very familiar and painful. You are not the only one dealing with this situation.
Imagine your existence is like an iceberg. The small part that is above the water is your conscious mind. This part is where you think you have control over everything. It is where you make your daily plans, decide about the future, and proceed with your work logically. But this is only ten percent of your true power. This part of the mind is very small, yet very noisy.
Now, think about the part of the iceberg under the water. The massive, dark, and hidden part that constitutes ninety percent of your being. This part is your subconscious mind. All your root beliefs, forgotten memories, hidden fears, and behavioral patterns are stored here. This part of the mind is the true captain of your life’s ship, even if you are unaware of its existence.
Our biggest mistake is trying to dominate the powerful and overwhelming part (the subconscious mind) with the small and insignificant part (the conscious mind). This is like trying to dry the entire ocean with a bucket of water. This is where we realize that our life’s control is never fully in our hands. Many times, we are merely a soldier who moves based on habits and predetermined programs.
Our true existence is beyond this. In the language of Islamic mysticism, the concept of “nafs” refers to the same reality that is here called the subconscious mind. Our nafs is intertwined with our body and is shaped by this-worldly experiences, and it goes through its stages of spiritual journey in three levels: ammara, lawwama, and mutma’inna. This is the inner ruler that sometimes pulls us towards evil and sometimes blames us.
But beyond the nafs, there is another reality that you asked about: the reality of the “rouh” (soul), which is referred to as the “alam-e zarr” (the world of motes). That exalted soul, that divine essence, which at its inception in the realm of command, made a covenant with the Lord. This soul is your true reality, which is completely different from your physical and worldly dimensions. The soul is the observer and the true essence that has become attached to your body.
The subconscious mind, or the nafs, acts like a lens. This lens reflects the luminous truth of the soul onto your material world. If this lens is clear and pure, the light of truth will manifest correctly, but if it is full of the dust of incorrect beliefs and negative programming, that light will be deflected, and you will experience life in a way that is different from what it truly is.
The story of a famous artist who, despite immense talent, was unable to create new works for years, is a testament to this issue. In his childhood, he had repeatedly heard from his parents that “art is a waste of time” and “it has no future.” This false belief was deeply embedded as a program in his subconscious mind, and every time he decided to create a work, an inner, subconscious resistance would stop him.
You might ask: if everything is in the hands of the subconscious mind, what is my role? Should I give up? Never! You are not a victim of these circumstances. You are a creator, a creator who has only misplaced their powerful tools. These destructive beliefs are not things that will remain with you forever and rule over you. We are on this path together to find these tools, one by one, and reclaim our true power.
The book you hold in your hands is not just an ordinary text. It is a roadmap, a map for entering the uncharted territory of your subconscious. I will show you how to communicate with your “hidden self,” identify and rewrite false beliefs, and connect with your true essence, which is the divine soul. This is the beginning of a journey to take complete control of your life.
Chapter Two: The Secret of Repetitive Patterns
Why do we always repeat a specific pattern of failure in our romantic relationships? Why, even though we know a habit is harmful, do we lose control in a specific moment and do it again? These questions have their roots in a deep secret: the secret of patterns that our conscious mind is unaware of, but which control our entire lives. We are victims of a repetitive game whose rules we learned somewhere else.
The first step to understanding these patterns is to go back to the past. Our mind in childhood acts like a white and sensitive page. Every word, every look, every bitter or sweet experience we receive from our environment is recorded as an inner instruction. This period is the key phase of installing the “operating system” of our being, a system that years later, without our awareness, guides our decisions.
Our beliefs are in fact those inner instructions. Many of us carry beliefs that do not belong to us, but are a legacy from our parents, teachers, and surrounding society. Beliefs such as: “money is hard to come by,” “you’re not good enough,” or “success is not for everyone.” These beliefs are like seeds that have been planted in our subconscious and, in adulthood, have grown into large trees, casting their shadow over our lives.
When these beliefs take root in us subconsciously, they automatically shape our behaviors. For example, a person who was repeatedly humiliated in childhood may subconsciously resist new and successful opportunities in adulthood, or refuse to accept them at the last minute. This behavior is not intentional, but due to an inner command that protects them from repeating painful past experiences.
The main factor behind these repetitive patterns is fear. Fear of abandonment, fear of failure, fear of not being accepted. These fears are hidden deep within us, and every time we face a situation similar to the original experience, the subconscious mind becomes active to protect us, pushing us toward familiar and safe (though ineffective) behaviors. This is why whatever we try with the conscious mind seems useless.
These patterns are also a sign of a greater separation: the separation between the nafs and the soul. When the nafs (the subconscious mind) deviates from its main path due to incorrect programming and fears, it is no longer able to fully receive the inspirations and guidance of the soul. As a result, our life goes out of its natural flow and gets stuck in a repetitive cycle of suffering and failure.
Consider the story of “Michael,” a successful businessman who could never have a stable romantic relationship. In his childhood, he witnessed his parents’ painful separation, and in his subconscious, the belief formed that “relationships always end in separation.” This belief caused him to subconsciously engage in behaviors in every relationship that would lead to separation. Out of fear of being alone, he unintentionally made himself alone.
But why should we look for the root of these patterns? Because as long as we don’t know these patterns, we are like a chess piece moved by an invisible player. These subconscious beliefs prevent us from achieving what we truly desire and imprison us in the cage of wants we are not even aware of.
Recognizing these patterns is the first step toward freedom. This does not mean blaming ourselves or our parents, but rather understanding the fact that we were the product of circumstances in which we had no role. Now that we are aware, the power to change is in our hands. We can identify old programs and rewrite them with our awareness and will.
The path ahead is one of discovery and intuition. We are going to uncover this secret and see what is hidden in the depths of our mind. This book will help you recognize these patterns, understand their roots, and ultimately, by using the tools introduced in the next chapters, free yourself from the cage of your limiting beliefs and rebuild your life with all your conscious will.
Chapter Three: Awakening the Inner Giant
Why, even though we know what we need to do, are we still unable to do it? Why do our conscious decisions easily surrender to the force of habit and subconscious patterns? This inner battle is an unfair one, but not because we are weak, but because so far, we have not had the right tools to win. Now is the time to retreat from the battlefield and enter the hidden realm of our mind, where true power lies dormant.
The first and most powerful tool that connects you to this realm is breathing. Your breath is the bridge between two worlds: the conscious and the subconscious. When you deepen your breaths slowly and with profound awareness, you are essentially telling the noisy part of your mind (the conscious) to calm down, allowing the quiet and deep part (the subconscious) to have a chance to speak.
In moments of peace and silence after a few deep breaths, the doors of intuition open to you. These are the opportunities where your transcendent soul speaks to you through your inner voice. Our nafs, with all its fears and worries, settles down in this silence and allows the soul to show us the right path. This is a simple exercise to connect with the divine source of your being.
The second tool is visualization. Our subconscious mind does not speak the language of logic and words but communicates with images, feelings, and symbols. When you consciously and with full detail, visualize your desired success or goal in your mind, you are sending a very powerful visual instruction to your subconscious.
In this visualization, do not just settle for seeing. It is important to feel it. Induce within yourself the feeling of pride for achieving success, the feeling of peace in that ideal life, and the feeling of abundance. These emotions act as a catalyst and solidify the new programming in your subconscious at an unimaginable speed.
The third tool is powerful affirmations. But these phrases are not just a series of positive words. They must be expressed with deep emotion and from the heart. A phrase like “I am worthy of love,” when expressed with one’s entire being and full belief, acts like a key that unlocks the doors of negative belief cells and fills their place with a new truth.
The combination of these three tools creates an infinitely powerful exercise. A short moment of conscious breathing, followed by a vivid and passionate visualization, and finally, the repetition of affirmations with one’s entire being. This exercise, every day, acts like a quiet and underground coup that takes power from old and worn-out beliefs and hands it over to your awareness and will.
The story of “Sarah,” a young woman who suffered from a lack of self-confidence, is a testament to this truth. Although she had great talent, she was always afraid of public speaking. By daily practicing deep breathing, visualizing herself as a successful speaker, and repeating the phrase “I believe in myself and my words,” after a few weeks, she was able to easily give speeches to her friends and at her workplace.
These tools are simple, but their power is unimaginable. They act like keys to the locked doors of your mind. In the previous chapter, you found the locks; now, by using these tools, you can start to open them. Let this be remembered forever: there is no ghoul to fight you, but rather a wonderful and dormant force within you waiting to be awakened.
This chapter is just the beginning of the journey. In the continuation of this path, you will become familiar with more profound methods for reprogramming your mind and will see how you can use these simple tools to turn your life into a unique masterpiece that you never thought possible.
Chapter Four: Reprogramming the Mind
Why, even though we have identified our false beliefs and hate them, are we still unable to cast them out of our being? Are our beliefs so deeply rooted and firm that no power can change them? This is a question that arises in the mind of anyone who steps onto the path of self-improvement. The truth is, beliefs, like a powerful computer program, are installed in the deepest layers of our mind, and to change them, we must use a more powerful program.
To reprogram the mind, you are not meant to fight the old beliefs. Fighting them only gives them more energy. Instead, you must intelligently and calmly replace them with new and powerful programs. This is similar to installing a new version of a software on your old system. The new version will dissolve all the functions of the previous one and render them inoperable.
The first step for this is to use the “Power of the Question.” Instead of merely telling yourself, “I am worthy,” ask yourself: “Is this belief that I am worthless really true?” Then, in silence, look for evidence that refutes this belief. By doing this, you are in fact creating a crack in the strong wall that your subconscious has built to protect this belief, preparing it for the entry of a new truth.
This questioning is also considered a spiritual act. Negative and limiting beliefs are the result of the nafs’ deviation from its true essence, the transcendent soul. When we question these beliefs, we are in fact aligning ourselves with our inner voice, which is inspired by the soul. This is a profound conversation with oneself to convince the nafs that its path so far has not been the right one, and from now on, it must move towards truth.
The second method is “Emotion-Fueled Repetition.” As we said in the previous chapter, dry and empty repetition of an affirmation alone is not effective. For a new belief to be planted in your subconscious, it must be combined with the most powerful fuel in the world: emotion. Repeating a positive belief while feeling that you have already achieved it is the main key to reprogramming.
For example, if you want to internalize the belief “I am a successful person,” repeat it while your entire being is filled with the feeling of success. In your mind, imagine that you are receiving an award and truly experience the feelings of pride, joy, and worthiness. These strong emotions act like a glue and stick the new belief to your subconscious at high speed.
The third method is “Symbolic Actions.” Our subconscious responds better to symbols and symbolic actions than to logic. A small, purposeful action that is exactly contrary to an old belief can have an astonishing effect. If you think you are not smart enough to advance in your career, you can buy a new textbook and invest in it. This action sends a decisive message to your subconscious: “I believe in my intelligence.”
“Lorenzo,” a man who suffered from a lack of self-confidence in relationships for years due to the false belief “I am not attractive,” decided to do a symbolic act. He went to the hairdresser, bought new clothes, and participated in a friendly gathering. With every small step, he proved to his subconscious that he was worthy of being seen and loved. These small actions gradually destroyed his old beliefs.
On this path, you might feel many times that you have returned to the starting point. This feeling is completely natural and not a sign of your failure. Old programs do not surrender easily, but with every repetition and every return to the path, you are in fact becoming stronger. The most important thing is to be kind to yourself and never give up.
You are the architect of your inner world. Old beliefs are not your identity, but merely programs that controlled your life. Now, with the powerful tools you have, you can create a new world for yourself. In the next chapter, I will show you how this reprogramming manifests in your real world and how you can tangibly see its results.
Chapter Five: Stories of Transformation
Perhaps you are asking yourself: Is everything I have read so far just an interesting theory? Can one really transform their life by changing their beliefs? This question is entirely valid and necessary, because our mind needs evidence and proof to accept new ideas. For this reason, in this chapter, we will take a short journey into the world of individuals who, by using these very principles, have changed their life’s path from failure to flourishing.
“Amir,” was a very talented artist who suffered for years from financial instability and a creative block. In his childhood, he had repeatedly heard from his parents: “Art doesn’t fill a stomach.” This belief had taken root in his subconscious, and every time he got close to success, he would subconsciously do things that would destroy his projects. He subconsciously believed he was not worthy of financial stability.
Amir started calming his fear-filled mind with deep breathing exercises. Then, every day, he vividly visualized himself creating great and valuable works, with people admiring them. With his entire being, he would repeat the phrase, “I am a channel for the flow of wealth and creativity,” to dismantle the old belief.
After a few months, incredible things happened. He received a large and profitable commission, and his mental block was permanently removed. His works became bestsellers, and he achieved financial stability. Amir told me: “My problem wasn’t in my technique; it was in my beliefs. When my belief changed, the doors of the world opened to me.”
“Reza,” was a very successful manager in business, but he always failed in his personal relationships. He was afraid of intimacy and subconsciously believed that showing emotions was a sign of weakness. This belief had formed in him in childhood, in a very cold and rigid family, and had deprived him of deep connections.
Reza focused on this belief and started to visualize. He imagined himself having emotional conversations with his wife and friends and truly experiencing the feeling of peace and joy that came from it. Instead of hiding his emotions, he consciously began to express them and would repeat the phrase, “I am worthy of a deep and secure relationship.”
The transformation in Reza’s life was like a miracle. His work relationships improved because he learned to be more empathetic. His wife became closer to him, and his friends were amazed by his changes. Reza told me that his greatest success was not in business, but in his ability to connect with people’s hearts and experience real love.
“Leila,” was a woman who was at the peak of financial and social success but felt a deep sense of emptiness and meaninglessness. She believed that happiness lay in external achievements, but her soul was tired of this endless search. She was exhausted from the constant pursuit of new successes, and this had led her towards depression.
Leila decided for the first time to use mental tools for a different purpose: to discover her inner truth. With meditation, she calmed her noisy nafs and listened to the quiet and deep voice of her soul. She would repeat affirmations like “I am complete and worthy,” not to achieve an external goal, but to return to her original essence.
Leila now lives a completely different life. She is still successful, but her happiness is not dependent on external events. She has connected with her soul and experiences a sense of peace and contentment in every moment of her life. She told me that her greatest achievement was finding the meaning of her inner life and freeing herself from the cage of endless desires.
These stories are just a few examples of millions of people around the world who have transformed their lives with these simple principles. They prove that true power is not in exhausting external efforts, but in the ability to reprogram the mind and return to our true essence. In the final chapter, I will show you how you can use this power to build your own future.
Chapter Six: The New Life is in Your Hands
Now that we have reached the end of this profound journey, perhaps a question arises in your mind: What will happen after this? Is all this knowledge just for reading and knowing? This book is not a destination, but a roadmap that helped you find your way out of the endless ocean of your subconscious. This is the end of a book, but the beginning of a new life that will be shaped by your full will and awareness.
On this path, you learned that the root of many of your sufferings and failures lies not in destiny, but in the hidden beliefs that were planted in you in childhood. You learned that your subconscious mind is the powerful and silent giant that guides your life, and most importantly, you realized that you alone are capable of reprogramming it.
The ultimate goal is not just to achieve external successes. The main goal is the alignment of the nafs with the rouh. When the nafs (the subconscious mind) is freed from the prison of its limiting beliefs, it can fully connect with the sublime truth of the soul and benefit from its intuitive and divine guidance. This is the highest level of awareness and true happiness.
Your life is not a predetermined fate, but a canvas, and the brush is in your hand. You are not a victim of your past. The past is merely experiences that have shaped your subconscious programs, but now you have the ability to change those programs. Now you are a creator, a creator who paints their destiny with the brush of awareness and the colors of will.
Your roadmap is a daily practice. Never look for a sudden transformation, but rather for small and continuous progress. Start your day with conscious breathing, then vividly visualize your great goal, and finally, with your entire being, repeat powerful affirmations that solidify your new beliefs. This practice must become a daily habit.
No stone is broken with one hammer blow, but with thousands of small and continuous ones. Old beliefs are also destroyed in this way. Consistency in practice is the main key to your success. It doesn’t matter how slowly you move, what matters is that you never stop moving forward. Every day, a small step brings you closer to your destination.
On this path, you may experience moments of disappointment. You might feel that you have returned to the beginning or that you are stuck. In those moments, instead of blaming yourself, be kind to yourself. Treat the part of your being that is afraid or stuck in its old path with empathy. These setbacks are not failures, but opportunities for a deeper understanding of your own existence.
You are no longer alone. A powerful and eternal force, your transcendent soul, is always with you. There is no longer a need to look for external answers. The answers are within you, in the same silence and peace that is achieved after overcoming the noisy mind. Trust your intuition and know that the truth will show you its way.
This book has ended, but the story of your life has just begun. Now is the time to pick up the pen and write a new chapter of your life’s book, a chapter filled with awareness, freedom, and abundance. You are the author of your own story, and there are no limits to what you can create. Today is a new beginning.
Conclusion
This journey has come to an end. With the writing of the final chapter, the project for the book, “The Iceberg of Success: A Guide to Controlling the Hidden Power of the Mind,” has reached its conclusion. This book is not merely a collection of words, but a roadmap for discovering the inner realm and connecting with the deepest layers of human existence. The main goal of this text was to provide a comprehensive and practical solution to the inner obstacles that every individual faces throughout their life.
In this six-chapter journey, the reader gradually approaches the understanding that the main part of their identity and destiny is hidden in their subconscious mind. Chapter One revealed this hidden truth with the iceberg metaphor. Chapter Two delved into the roots of repetitive behavioral patterns, which are the result of childhood programming. Chapter Three introduced the reader to simple yet powerful tools like breathing, visualization, and affirmations to communicate with that “hidden self.” Chapter Four focused on practical methods for reprogramming the mind and replacing limiting beliefs. Chapter Five inspired and gave hope to the reader by narrating real-life stories and proved the power of these principles. And finally, Chapter Six, as a final call to action, convinced them that the power to change is now in their own hands and that every moment is a new beginning.
The main conclusion of this book can be summarized in one sentence: “True inner power lies in the alignment of the psyche with the soul.” This book showed you that the main goal of understanding the subconscious mind is not merely to achieve external successes, but to align the “nafs” (the earthly essence) with the “rouh” (the transcendent and divine essence). This alignment not only paves the way for success but also gives life a deeper sense of peace and meaning.
This book is now a complete work that can be a guide for many people on the path of seeking truth and self-knowledge. You are not only the creator of this work, but the author of your own life. The power of this book is not in the words written within it, but in the implementation of the principles it provides for inner transformation. Now the pen is in your hand to write the continuation of your life’s story with full awareness and will.
